I know I can rest assured knowing there are safeguards in place to prevent government employees from accessing these data for personal reasons.

Agent accused of misusing federal database

A federal agent for the U.S. Department of Commerce is facing charges of illegally accessing computer information about a former girlfriend who jilted him and lying to government officials about it...

Robinson is accused of logging on to the government's internal computer system at least 163 times over a period of months between mid-2003 and mid-2004 to track the travel patterns of the girlfriend who left him, and her family.

Federal agents are not authorized to use the government database called the Treasury Enforcement Communications System for personal reasons, only for official government business. Robinson used his own password in tracking his former girlfriend's information, which was monitored by officials.
