    I have no problem raising cigarette taxes, because unlike the other things you mentioned, most of which are problems for almost all of society, this group's costs to the rest of society are disproportionate to their numbers.  So they should pay more.  

    Furthermore, it's a discrete product.  Smokers aren't victims of the health effects of smoking because of multiple factors all roughly evenly balanced, they're victims of those health effects primarily because of a single factor: smoking.  There are numerous diseases that afflict non-smokers at rates 3 times or more less frequently.

    Also, can you point out how anyone's health is harmed by second-hand obesity?  

    The revolution will not be televised, but we'll analyze it to death at The Next Hurrah.
