...of Protector of the Working Class.  Well, I don't know about your background, but I am of the working class, and I'd rather see more working class children get health insurance and fewer working class people smoke than to let libertarian ideologues like you "protect the interests" of the American working class.

You think you're protecting their interests, when in reality you're just arguing for more people like those in my family and in the neighborhoods where I grew up  leading lives diminished and ended prematurely because of smoking.

The revolution will not be televised, but we'll analyze it to death at The Next Hurrah.

....I favor the SCHIP expansion, but the income threshold of those eligible is being raised, meaning the ranks of children qualifying will shift from the working poor to the middle class.  If you foist hundreds of dollars in additional taxes on families making $30,000 a year to pay for the health care of children from families making $75,000 a year, I can't see how the arithmatic works out to where it's a net gain for those making $30,000 per year.

And for the record, I'm the son of a meatpacker and a grocery store clerk.  And for the additional record, I'm not arguing for more people in your family and neighborhood to prematurely die from smoking.  They've made that choice themselves.  I am simply supporting that they not be financially preyed upon for that choice as one of your inevitable unhealthy choices could just as easily have a bullseye painted on it next year.
