How as Osama "oppressed" by the US relating to "the Oil"? He's Saudi, oil in Saudi Arabia is nationalized and the profits aren't going to Exxon. His family is personally quite wealthy. No one was oppressing him before he went out seeking a fight.

Why should he care about poverty? You are making the same argument about Osama.

It seems to me that the Saudi regime has been reliant on US power, and is quite repressive. Whatever one thinks about who's right or wrong in the I/P situation, Israel is propped up by US power and most Arabs and Muslims don't like that very much. For the last century or two, Western powers have generally meddled in, repressed, oppressed, attacked, colonized, and exploited many Islamic and Arab parts of the world.

I believe that is Osama's grievance, broadly speaking. You may not think it's a legitimate grievance, but he does.

though to be sure his list of grievances is impressively long is the non-muslim military and civilians in saudi arabia.

"Mohammed's last words at his deathbed were: "Turn the pagans (non-Muslims) out of the Arabian Peninsula." Vol. 5:716 "

"Mohammed said to the Jews, "You should know that the earth belongs to Allah and His Apostle (Mohammed) and I want to expel you from this land (The Arabian Peninsula), so, if anyone owns property, he is permitted to sell it." Vol. 4:392"

he also really hates the lax nature of sharia application in saudi arabia, corrupted by the west and all that.

can you explain to me when Muhammad said this?
