A few generations ago, the world in which O'Reilly inhabits in his fantasies, Italians weren't considered White, either. So they weren't considered people. I'm not surprised O'Reilly is using them as his example of people who can surprisingly "pass for White".

Of course, go back just a few more generations, and O'Reilly's Irish grandparents weren't "White" either.

The creep really is demented. And he really has a lot in common with his audience.

Which, I expect, will be true in a few more generations about O'Reilly's successors, who use some other, more recent immigrant minority (probably South Americans) the way O'Reilly uses Black people, and maybe talk about Black people the way O'Reilly talks about Italians.

And, I'm sad to say, I expect there will be plenty of Black people who tune in and agree. Just like plenty of Italian people today agree with O'Reilly.

Unless we can leave bigotry itself behind.
