    jqb, lots of history.

Regardless of history, read Petey's comment. Read ALL of Petey's comments.

The "oooh Kos is such a loser, 'cause he didn't know this or that" or the "Kos is manufacturing confomity and quashing dissent 'cause he wants to make money from his site" or all the numerous cases of similar snark.

This may be the first time you have come across it, but it is pretty pervasive.

    And annoying.

And it has been around for a long long time.

I find it counter-productive, obnoxious, childish, and stupid.

Far better to simply point out the error, correct the record, and engage in an honest debate, rather than such lame and poor "debate" - which, coming from a poster (Petey/NDA) who spends so much time complaining about the quality of debate...well, it's just kinda sad.

Read ollieb's comment upthread if you want to understand this entire thread.

As stated previously, my basic point is that why shouldn't the DCCC consider the situation for 24 hours, or even 12 hours, before figuring out what is the best course to pursue?

      I second your motion.

We have a candidate who had won the primary, but was obviously little more than a sacrificial lamb in the eyes of the party. And suddenly the incumbent is pulling out? That makes her less the person who won the primary?

What do they lose by leaving her alone that they weren't planning to lose... by leaving her alone? They'd written the seat off already. If someone else had been viable, they would have run in the primary and knocked her out of contention.

Fugedaboudit. Once the primary is over, the race is set. If the DCCC wanted to change candidates, they should have done that months ago. This kind of maneuvering is petty, mean, and plain stupid.

They can consider what they want to consider and think what they want to think... in PRIVATE. This concerns what the party folks said in PUBLIC, and in public, they should be presenting a unified front. Even if they're panicked that they have to find a replacement for her right now, they should absolutely never allow that into the public sphere and into the media.

Strategy is strategy, and the party has to be ruthless sometimes. But unless they've already picked their replacement, squared it with Schrader, and ordered the catering for the joint press conference, the only words out of their mouths should be "Schrader's our candidate, period." Otherwise they're just punching holes in their own boat.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.
        Ow, my blog.
