  •  And amidst the hurly-burly of this thread (4.00)
This quietly reasoned little post is the kernel, the nugget, the essence.  Thanks for summing up my feelings as well, jbrians.

Good call, Dancing Larry, even if you're on the other side of the issue from me.

While you posted this, I was busy working on a post that also cited this as the essence of the matter.

    •  No, it's not (none)
Yes, raising $14K in four hours is pretty damn impressive, but her erstwhile opponent is walking away from a $610K war chest.

$14K isn't going to cover this race. Not even close. The blogosphere can't win this race; that's up to Ms. Schrader and the party.

      •  I don't think it's that simple (none)
Her erstwhile opponent was an incumbent. Her new opponent (whoever he/she is) will not be.

And $20K obviously isn't enough to win a general election. But it's the EMILY's list strategy, isn't it? It's early in the general election season and now is the time that a fundraising surge can convince others to donate.

The local Dem Party is apparently behind her. And the national party isn't the only avenue -- EMILY's list, MoveOn, DFA and countless other PACs and 527s can bankroll this election, even if the national party decides to sit it out.
