  •  Barney Frank... (5+ / 0-)

...has mostly opposed our inclusion since the 90s.

Having him involved in this present event was a major mistake from our point of view.  To many transfolk having him involved is seen as a slap in the face.

i'm getting really sick of a lot of these Dems. there is a similar situation going on in Oklahoma, in terms of the Cherokee Freedmen (most of whom have more Cherokee blood than most Cherokee Nation members).

our Dem reps are cozied right up to Cherokee Nation, and Brad Carson even helped draft the measures which ousted the Freedmen.

the one person standing up for them? Tom Coburn.

i'm sick to death of this kind of crap from the Dems.

      Barney Frank knows better.

How in hell do you think you could ever get this passed? I'm sorry, but any trans folk that see this as a "slap in the face" need a reality check bad.

If you doubt Barney's commitment, confront him about it. Check it out with the reps from our orgs who have been working with him. He has said repeatedly that he supports trans inclusion.

So offer some proof. This is raw, pointless divisiveness. And politically naive. In the current political landscape, there simply is no ENDA without Barney. He has the longest history with it and the most influence. We would not have gotten this far without him.

Honestly, I would say put up or shut up. I understand that there is ill will in trans communities over the past. But don't throw around accusations like that without some proof. It's counterproductive.

I live in hope that I will live long enough to piss on the grave of George W. Bush.
