    at least initially, thinking they were going there to avenge 9/11. I reckon it would not be easy to motivate the troops if the troops knew the truth.

      Part of the trouble here is the commanders don't always know the truth either. the military is a vertical organization, thinks from the top down.
      So they run on rumor and innuendo. The troops and the public generally only find out the truth when the war is over--so it was for Vietnam.

      Youre really encouraging me to put up a diary on this and I may later  but you do it well, there's no shortage. Got to run now---thanks
