  •  I still get a little (6+ / 0-)

confused as to why people run for and hold office in government when they essentially believe in a minimal or non-existent role for government. Don't run, don't hold office, go hang out with the other libertarians and talk about how much you hate government. And don't call it a philosophy either.

Ron Paul, of course, has no problems using government to undermine the rights of women to have safe abortions. Then government power and coercion is all fine and dandy. No disrespect to the diarist intended but Ron Paul reminds me of that wacky guy in my intro poli sci class who could be counted upon to jump up shout gibberish and then congratulate himself on his insight while the rest of us went:wtf?

    •  that's just silly (6+ / 0-)

if you're not for a big federal gov't you shouldn't run for federal govt'?

So if you're against the war, but we're in the war, you should just not run?

Ron Paul is our ally on the biggest issue of the day, and is an ally against ending American Imperialism, more than most Democrats.

      •  Nope...... (0+ / 0-)

The system doesn't need fixing, it needs a complete overhaul, and Ron Paul is not the man to do it. The problem isn't big government. The problem is deliberately crummy government, planned incompetence with the vision of making people believe government cannot be a tool in problem solving. Can it solve every single problem. No. Ron Paul is pro-life. I seriously doubt he has any interest in universal  health care and he would be quite happy to turn out national parks into condo developments if it made them more efficient. I cannot ally myself with him.
