Hill thought there were WMDs. Her husband's administration had intimated as much(Berger, Albright and the Big Dog). I do think it was an error in judgement on her part and Edwards part to think that the President would exercise sound judgement and use force as a last resort. I forgive them for it. That said where I distinguish the difference between Hill and edwards is that Edwards has been a tireless advocate for correcting the mistake he has made and has admitted as much. Hillary on the other hand does not admit it was an error in judgement to trust this President(which completely baffles me since W is a compulsive liar.) and her vote condemning the Iranian Army is indicative that she really hasn't learned the lengths this President will go to manipulate situations to suit his purposes(equally baffling).

Hillary is a bright woman but when it comes to this stuff she is way off.

    •  To my mind, invading Iraq was a horrible idea (6+ / 0-)

      even if there were WMD's.

I was against it from the begininng. That said, I have always believed that the argument was never so much about the WMD's as it was about what level of force was appropriate. On this issue Hill and Edwards were far more hawkish then I. They also failed our military because they never even bothered to see if proper planning was in place to not only ensure a strategic victory but to ensure a safe transition period for the Iraqis and our troops tasked to remain during that transition. It was a HUGE failure and our troops deserved better. Edwards has at least copped to his mistake and tried to compensate for a huge mistake that resulted in lost lives(something you can really never make up for). Hillary hasn't though. Her vote on the Iranian Army just reinforces the opinion I have that she still doesn't get the magnitude of their mistake and the cost involved with these kind of mistakes where W takes what the Congress says and twists it as tacit approval to do as he wishes.
