  •  The "Undecided Voter"... (0+ / 0-)

....seems far more likely to respond to "My opponent, Congressman Smith, voted to deny health care coverage to four million children last year", than they are to "Hi, I'm Congressman Johnson....and last year I voted to insure four million previously uninsured health care."  Negative ads work....which is what Democrats are currently counting on to lambast Republicans with over SCHIP next year.  If the bill becomes law, it will be taken for granted immediately by its sideline "supporters", but not forgotten at all by the working-class smokers hundreds of dollars per year poorer because of it.

    •  I guess we're wasting our breath. (0+ / 0-)

Most libs are always to busy busting a nut over getting to raise taxes on smokers to think of who it's going to hurt.

      •  concern troll? (0+ / 0-)

        Worried about libs, huh?

        Thanks, pal.

        •  Read some of my responses in this thread. (0+ / 0-)

You know the ones where I point out that where I live just VOTED OUT A REPUBLICAN SENATOR AND A TAX INCREASE ON SMOKES on the same ballot. Who do you think they're going to vote for next election when the Dems have RAISED TAXES ON SMOKES?

          •  I read 'em all (0+ / 0-)

each and every one. Enjoyed them, too.

I take your word for it.

What part of 'this funding plan was not our choice?" don't you get, Onyx? but like I said earlier, don't let facts get in the way of a good rant.

            •  It was our choice (0+ / 0-)

in the sense that WE'RE THE MAJORITY. They could have said no and then beat the republicans for opposing. You know, kind of like now? The bill still didn't go through and we're still having to beat the R's over the head. All we gained, if the veto override goes through, is to increase taxes on people who can't afford it.

              •  part of the power now (0+ / 0-)

is that it is supported by 18 R sens and 45 R House and umpteen R governors and therefore the House Rs are standing in the way of the American people including the rest of their party.

              •  and to provide health insurance (0+ / 0-)

to the children of people who can't afford it?

                Let's not forget that.
