    While he did not show up to the debate, he did at least answer their questions:

    While I'd like him to come out more forcefully for gay marriage, I agree it's a states rights issue, and he has a pretty good history of generally pushing for equality.

      Any more than the laws prohibitibg blackes and whites from intermarrying was a 'states rights' issue.

      Its a human rights issue - and his 'pretty good history' is no better than any other candidate, and worse than many.

        Just because it's unconstitutional doesn't make it a Federal legislation issue.  No laws were passed after Loving v Virginia, none had to be.  

        I wish he would say "it's unconstitutional for them not to be allowed to marry, and I intend in putting justices on the SCOTUS who agree with this opinion," but, unfortunately, he has not.
