    He was not a POW (much like Bush, he got out of serving in WW II due to a medical condition, and instead promoted the war) but was involved with politics and a Nazi leader at the county level.

    After WW II, he was imprisoned in a converted school for, I believe one or two years for his political activities. This prison was run by the US military and was located in the US sector of Germany. He did tell us about various abuses. Given that his connection to reality was as tenuous as Bush's, I didn't used to really believe him. But after Guantanamo, I recognized many of the specific techniques reported.

    So I'm not really convinced that our WW II conduct was really as lily white.
