  •  I would love Gore to run, but (0+ / 0-)

Look, it's nice to think Gore will be in a better position to bring attention to climate change as president. One one level he will be.  He will also have a whole host of other important issues to contend with (universal health care, the economy, education, Iraq, improving our standing overseas, reversing our policies on domestic spying and torture, cleaning up corruption, plus every pet project that dems have been holding back on during the Bush admin. Plus whatever the repubs throw into bills to stymy, obfuscate and destroy any hope of passage. Plus the middleeast, plus energy, plus and plus and plus...Plus the unexpected (there is always the unexpected)

He'll have the bully pulpit on climate change, sure, but he'll also have the whole world of issues to contend with. Now on one hand the thought of having Gore in there to contend with all those thorny issues and the many I've forgotten to mention pleases me tremendously. I know he'd do it well. And I think maybe it's the right thing to do.

But if Gore wants to focus on climate change, it might not be in the best interest to do it from the Presidency. And spending the next 12 months campaigning, while it would highlight his stance, could also create some delay in practice in advancing actual change. There's a lot more going on.
