    than a POTS phone conversation, right? Disclosure: I own a couple shares of Vonage, so make of that what you will.

      until the government 'resolved' the niggling problem of not being able to tap those calls, and other small companies seem to have vanished.  W's network sniffers sit on the 'backbones' of the internet owned by the top few cable and network companies, and can recognize and log most of the traffic flying by, including VoIP.

        GREAT big massively parellel processing power, I'm supposing, and staggering amounts of storage, to match.  Screening the WWW is a Herculean undertaking, but with enough $$$ it can be done and IS being done.
