  •  The other funny thing about the list? 13 of those (9+ / 0-)

    bills were signed by Republican Presidents. Only four by Democratic presidents. Spanning 16 years of Democratic Presidencies (half of which with majorities in both houses) and 26 years of Republican presidents (with total government control for five of them).

    It's been a long, long time since Democrats got anything done, hasn't it?

    •  Congress controls the process, not the president (4+ / 0-)

      1966 - 1980 - Democratic controlled Congress

      1981 - 1986 - Split Congress (Democrats control HoR)

      1987 - 1994 - Democratic controlled Congress

      1995 - 2001 - Republican controlled Congress

      2001 - 2002 - Split Congress (Republicans control HoR)

      2003 - 2006 - Republican controlled Congress

      Each of the 17 pieces of legislation were written into law when both houses were controlled by a single party.

      13 of the seventeen were passed by a Democratic-controlled Congress and signed by a Republican president;

      2 were passed by a Republican-controlled Congress and were signed by a Democratic president.

      2 were passed by a Democratic-controlled controlled congress and signed by a Democratic president.

      Not a single piece of legislation was passed by a Republican-controlled Congress and signed by a Republican president, and was probably just as well.

          the Freedom of Information Act was also passed by a Democratic congress and signed by a Democratic president, so

          12 Dem congress, Repub president
          2 Repub congress, Dem president
          3 Dem congress, Dem president
          0 Repub congress, Repub president.
