  •  damn right (5+ / 0-)

I'm sick of these end-runs around the process, time and time again. Thanks for mentioning this!

    •  I'll be absolutely flabbergasted.... (6+ / 0-)

if most, if not all of the e-mail files in question haven't already been erased or shipped to Outer Mongolia.

Look....Rove was supposedly ordered by the courts to preserve his e-mails and almost immediately began deleting them.  Nothing happened.

Look at it from the administration 's point of view"

      Which is worse for them.....

      Deleting the files

      or

Having them preserved and the information in them become accessible to the public and the courts and having to try and defend what they did on a range of clearly illegal and unethical activities ranging from the US Attorneys mess to violations of the Hatch Act to FISA to whatever.

They are already gone!  And if you don't believe me....just wait.  When it turns out they are gone, you'll find an executive order from the president's office determining that preservation of such information would represent an invasion of the privacy of executive records and he has therefore deemed that they should be destroyed.

      •  Well, the Executive Order Bush signed in... (4+ / 0-)

2001, basically gave him the power to keep secret many presidential and vice presidential records - indefinitely - along with Clinton's, Poppy Bush's and Reagan's.

This may have emboldened Cheney and Rove to go ahead and keep records; since they really need not worry. Unless the EO is overturned by another president signing another EO, it could be decades until any of those documents see the light of day.
