  •  Say O'Lielly ran for Senate (0+ / 0-)

He's a lying asshole, but he's no idiot.

New York can elect Repug Senators.  Remember Al D'Amato?  Keep in mind also that the most liberal part of the state (NYC) elected Giuliani mayor twice.

Should O'Lielly be able if he were running to keep his show and electioneer on it?  Colbert will electioneer on his show, as that's part of the joke.  It will be intentionally inept electioneering, that being part of the joke as well; but how can one make an objective distinction?

    You can't.

I thought Colbert's idea was a fun one, too.  But, election fairness is more important than good comedy.

I don't like to say this either, but Colbert can't do it (except by campaigning for write in votes without filing) without some very bad consequences.
