    isn't as hard as steel, but if it is a wall mount sink, it should have cast into the back of it tabs that engage with slots in a steel piece you bolt to the studs in the wall.

    Yes, the pipe goes through the hole. What brings water to this point? In a miodern installation, this would be a flex extending from the shut off valve ("angle stop") at the wall. The flex just screws onto the bottom of the faucet; has an o-ring in there.

    No flex?  Take a picture of what's down there and let us see.
