  •  The only thing about the Mothership is keeping (9+ / 0-)

it on the Rec list. We can get it there pretty quickly but keeping it on the list after about 12 hours gets tricky.

Pimping the mothership helps but I'd love to find a way to anchor a diary on the list or in a separate section...at least if it's a disaster related series.

Thanks for setting up the Live Blog stuff. Those of us out of the immediacy can donate our diaries (which we don't use much anyway) and help facilitate the active commenters.

    •  i usually hold out my rec (7+ / 0-)

for when she starts sinking and we do a round of pimping.  the number of recs in a given time, i.e. lots very quickly, seems to affect things.

but yah...only recs can keep it there; this is true at the code level.  there's not a thing anybody can do but rec, rec, rec.  i think we just need to find ways to tweak that system, too.

for it to be put on the Front Page?  With the blessing of the Front Page People, of course, and bumped up every so often?  For a major event, like the elections, or critical hearings that it's generally agreed are important, it would seem that this would be the easiest way to keep it front and center and off the rec list...  or is this too simple?

it means we'd have to recruit an admin type to babysit the FP diary.  i don't see that happening.  it's better off on the rec list, primarily just because things can scroll off the FP in a new york minute sometimes.  a diary can last for days on the rec list.

this fireblog session was also highly unusual in a lot of ways - we don't usually need to go through that many motherships.  liveblog sessions are usually just  a handful of hours.  though we did cover the overnight filibuster, too.
