  •  That poll will change re: Obama/LGBT rights. (0+ / 0-)

In the wake of the terrible decision by senator Obama, I anticipate that the issue the people are going to most want to discuss will soon echo what we as kossacks demand and prioritize, namely people powered fundamental LGBT marital rights. I'm not sure who was polled in this effort, but we care more than ever about fundamental LGBT marital rights in the wake of Obama's grave error.

    •  Are you serious? (0+ / 0-)

      Really.  Are you?

I'm going to lay the odds of that issue trumping health care at slim and none.

    •  uh.... it's important, dude, but (0+ / 0-)

the public doesn't care squat for it.

    •  sadly, I doubt it (0+ / 0-)

I think the tyranny of the majority trumps here.  Too many folks are still uncomfortable with LGBT rights in general and marital rights in particular.  I believe, though it pains me to say it, that another whipped up lather of "protection of marriage" legislation could re-energize the rwnj coalition.

Liberals aren't going to get the public worked up to defend the rights of same-sex partners.  And conservatives aren't going to get the public worked up over defending this threat to the sanity of marriage.  (oops, meant "sanctity".  Sorry about that).
