      They're for hauling things. A load of gravel from the rock yard. A load of brush to the landfill. A pile of cardboard to the recycling center.  You can park them under an apple tree or a pecan tree and shake a harvest into the bed.   You can carry eight full bales of straw to mulch your organic garden.

      And of course, you can help your friends move.

      My '79 Chevy gets about 8 miles to the gallon, so I don't use it unless it's actually needed, but there are definitely times.

        My Ranger gets 26-30 mpg as a daily driver and is still plenty capable of hauling plenty of furniture, gravel, retaining wall stone, etc.

        Oh for a Ranger/Dakota/Tacoma diesel though...

        How about a country where the government doesn't tell churches who can marry, and the churches don't tell the goverment who can't.
