Isn't Mark Begich the son of Nick Begich, senator from Alaska, whose plane disappeared and was presumed crashed in Alaska in the 1970s?

His father defeated Dumb Young for the House seat after his plane disappeared a week before the election for his second term, with Majority Leader Hale Boggs (Cokie Roberts' dad) also on board.  They have never found the plane.

Dems were totally unprepared to offer another candidate when the replacement election was held six weeks later, and Dumb Young became Congressman-For-Life.

Nick Begich was a great Congressman.  I was privileged to travel with him for a week, taking photos for his first campaign.  He was a master campaigner, always prepared before arrival.  He would nap as soon as the plane hit altitude, and wake up & review his 3x5 cards when the plane started to descend.

When he was in the state legislator he shared a house during the session with 3 other legislators.  He would attend their parties, but spent about 45 minutes of every hour upstairs in his room answering constituent correspondence on his portable typewriter.  He was the same way when he went to Washington, a tireless worker for the people of Alaska, not for big timber, big mining, and Big Awl like Dumb Young.

Some of it appears to have rubbed off on Mark, though he was only 10 or so when his father died.

If Mark doesn't run, I'll bet former Gov. Tony Knowles will.  Even if he's not indicted by campaign time, Totally Tubular Ted has been severely damaged by Bill Allen's testimony in the just-concluded Vic Kohring briber trial.

OTOH, if I were Mark I'd take anything that spineless DINO Schumer says with a sack of salt.  It's time to get rid of him, DiFi, Reid, and all the other spineless wimps that won't vote to uphold their oath to defend the Constitution.

It may be that they like Mark because he is such a nice guy, hardly a qualification to serve in the Senate IMHO.  He's hardly another Paul Wellstone, which is what the Senate really needs.  Bernie needs some help!
