  •  I'm a writer (but not WGA...). (20+ / 0-)

And I'd never be a scab.

Before writing this drivel, you should damned well educate yourself.  Writing this dreck and admitting that you don't even understand the fundamental issues is proof that you have no business expressing an opinion in public.  Who cares what you "think," when you don't even have any basis for it?  This isn't LGF, this is part of the reality based community.

Jesus, it's not even as if it's hard right now to find out some of the basic facts.  The writers took an 80% CUT to their royalties for video, at least 20 years ago, so that the uncertain new market could be grown.  DVDs, as you'll notice, are a big deal now.  The corporations want to give none of that back now.  The writers are only asking for double what they're getting--which would mean leaving 60% of what they should have gotten still in corporate pockets.

AND that's not the big issue.  More and more their work's coming through the web.  And for that, they get precisely NOTHING.  No royalties at all.  The companies refuse to discuss it, and go to extremes like calling entire episodes created for webcast "promos" even as they sell ads.

As I recall, 52% of them are unemployed at any given time.  Salary means nothing then.

Are you a shill, or just an ignorant fool?
