attempt organized by Prescott Bush and others who wanted to stop the New Deal. They contacted Ret. Gen. Smedley Butler to organize WWI vets into an army to overthrow FDR. Butler instead played along and told on Bush to Congress.

Take care of your vets. There may not be another Smedley Butler around when you need one.

This ballot is loaded, and I'm not afraid to use it.

"The Fighting Quaker" was the recipient of 2 MoHs and served from the Boxer Rebellion through the Vera Cruz occupation, the Haitian and Nicaraguan revolutions and numerous other "brush wars" until WWI where he was relegated to a noncombat role due to being "unreliable" politically.
Since he wrote "War is a Racket" (still available), I suppose the present day GOP would label him another coward and pass out purple bandaids to prove his wounds were not that serious.
Too bad he was so unique; the times demand such a man.
