  •  Yes, he's voted Oman and Peru. Several Senators (0+ / 0-)

were given a pass on CAFTA especially the ones from cattle states.  Illinois is actually a very big cattle state.  Our Senator who sleeps with "The World is Flat" and believes wholeheartedly in outsourcing, Max "get used to it" Baucus was allowed to vote "NO" on CAFTA otherwise the cattle producers here would have butchered him.  However, Baucus and the others knew it would still pass.  It was basic horse, um, cattle trading.  No conviction here.

I hope the Obama supporters ask him about his views on these fake "free trade" policies which are meant to try tap down the more liberal economics of these countries and the anti-privatization movements that are surging there.  This isn't about trade.  It's about allowing Citibank and others to make profits. Read about how this effects the Peruvian Social Security system that was "privatized".

    •  Interesting perspective (0+ / 0-)

we often forget that Senators are looking after their state's own economic interest, at least as they see them.

The banking interests, etc. is another good point.
