And please correct me if I am wrong, but I followed his run for Congress last election and believe I have this right: (1) He is exceedingly intelligent; (2) he is exceedingly good looking/has charisma; and (#3) His family has lived in Nebraska for as long as there has been a Nebraska; and (#4) I believe he is a farmer. He struck me as a populist type of person, progressive with distinct values on which he would not compromise.

The longer the party goes on in everything, the bigger the potential correction in something will be.

    •  Sorry, factors either irrelevant or false. (4+ / 0-)
      1.  Intelligence is, unfortunately, irrelevant in this race.  Ben Nelson is an exceeding popular Senator in the state.  Also, dumb as a box of rocks.
      1.  Good looks/charisma don't matter.  Again: see list of former Senators.  Basically, the state is getting older and older, and youth is distrusted by many.
      1.  His grandparents have a family farm near Broken Bow, I believe.  Kleeb's parents haven't lived in the state for many years, and he himself moved here only slightly before he started his congressional run.  This will be a big issue - possibly a fatal one.
      1. He is a college professor with a PhD from Yale.  Totally shamefully, but that is two strikes against him in the state.
