  •  Or 1988? (0+ / 0-)

By all rights after eight years of GOP misrule the Dems should have a cakewalk.  But the candidate has to stand for something.  In 1988 the Democrats were in a strong position to win back the White House with the nation in Reagan fatigue after years of scandal of special interest politics.  But Michael Dukakis ran a dismal campaign and blew an early lead to lose decisively to Bush Sr.  Hillary is playing is safe - too safe -- and risks ending up like John Kerry.  It would be better if she would alienate some of the net roots or some of the independents, but she needs to take firm positions on difficult issues and not be evasive, as she was on the NY drivers license proposal. Many more of performances like that leave her walking wounded for November.

I really don't think you can accuse HRC of being a "Micheal Dukakis."

Dukakis lost big because he refused to defend himself against Republican attacks.  Whatever you think about HRC, she does seem willing to answer attacks that are leveled against her.
