flying around DC, why would anyone bother to take the time to read a bill?

    •  Right. Why start now? (5+ / 0-)

We can have the Constitution or we can have Bush but, we can't have both.

...The USAPatriot Act. Only the one page introductory cover sheet was allowed to be read. And ask Professor Yoo and Secretary Chertoff(the co-authors)why the first draft was written nearly one full year before 9/11. Not that they had anything to do with 9/11 mind you, but it's just a little too convenient, and scary for me to accept they did it in anticipation of terrorism out of some prescient sense of overwhelming concern of our freedoms, security, or their deep sense of "patriotic duty"!

...The 2007 Protect America Act. This law was crammed down the throta of Congress with one hour of debate for its 435 members, the required three readings "considered read" by Majority Leader Steny Hoyer. I'll never forget 08.04.07 because it's a date which will live in infamy with 09.29.06 the passage of the Military Commissions Act! It's the day all of our citizenships were permanently and thoroughly REVOKED!
