  •  Except of course Pelosi says... (5+ / 0-)

...impeachment is off the table.  If she doesn't see this is as worthy of impeachment (and there's nothing I've seen to indicate she thinks there's anything Bush could ever do to warrant impeachment) then there's only one thing left for me to think.  She wants the same thing Bush is trying to get: money from our the Iraqi oil, money from the US treasury diverted to no-bid contracts to friends, and endless military presence in Iraq.

He was alarmed when early on after Pelosi took over, she came back from a closed meeting with Bush visibly pale and shaken.
He thinks Bush told them he'd get his way or he'd just nuke the hell out of Iran.

      •  Amusing but don't buy it (4+ / 0-)

More reasonable would be that he would declare a state of emergency and impose martial law. Safer, cleaner, and you avoid any fallout <heh>.

I don't think that the wealthy Nancy Pelosi, or indeed any but a handful of our elitist Senators and Representatives, would "go pale" over the prospect of martial law.

More likely is that the threat was to make public (or at least provide to spouses, the IRS, whomever) the videos and photos of prominent Democrats entrapped in sexual and financial indiscretions (little boys, bribe-taking, etc., etc.)

THAT'S the kind of threat that would make these people weak in the knee.  I mean, Bush wouldn't put NANCY PELOSI in a camp, would he?  After all that she's done to assist him?

Worst case, since Nancy's husband is Jewish, I'd reckon that Bush would allow them to "make aliyah," and take their money to Israel.

          •  You don't know politicians then (0+ / 0-)

The point is not rule of law or money, it is about power.

            POWER

Declaring martial law REMOVES them out of the game. Period.

Politicians get threaten frequently with folks willing to air tawdry affairs (egawd, how many did Clinton go through?) And I see Senator Kennedy is still, um, err, a Senator. Sex is standard attack politics. Snore.

Revelation of sex, bribes, whatever, would STILL keep the politician in the game (perhaps they would be responding to attacks, but still in the game).

Martial law takes them OUT of the game. Permanently.

That is a loss no politician wants to see.

Dick and Rove-r found something on her and they told her what they have.  They told her that she can run so far on her leash but had better not try to get loose.  I didn't know much about Pelosi before being elected Speaker.  Now, I'd like to know more but it's too late to know what needed knowing.  What Dick and Rover know.  Know what I mean?
        I know, and I'm sorry.
