  •  Also McDonald's doesn't seem to mind (4.00)
Sending out its legal staff to press lawsuits that most people would at first reading consider even more frivolous than this case:

For example a law suit against a food critic who didn't appreciate their fine cuisine and wrote so.  They're suing him not for a measly $2.7 million but as much as $25 million.

Or suing a woman who felt her child got ill from the food at one of their franchises and not satisfied with the managers response - "This restaurant is cleaner than your house.", rather than an appology, reported them to the local health department.  They're only suing her for $1.25 million though.

Or turning some Greenpeace protesters handing out pamphlets in Britain into a huge case (the McLibel case) because they had legally inaccurate information in their pamphlets (because of Britain's strict libel laws).  Mc Donalds spent many millions pursuing it against the defendants who defended themselves without a lawyer and managed to win a ₤40,000 judgement and elevate the arguments of the protesters much higher into the public consciousness.

Also the numerous trademark suits it brings against people - Named McDonald or Just using a Mc in the name of their business

Those are much more important than those unwashed masses suing McDonalds over little things like superheating their coffee to save a few pennies and thereby being a contributing factor to over 700 2nd and 3rd degree burns, some after they had been told to reduce the temperature of their held coffee multiple times.

    •  Hey (none)
I resemble that remark, at least the trademark cases.

"We're not criticizing Bush for going after terrorists, we're criticizing him for NOT going after terrorists." - Wes Clark (hopefully in the future J. Kerry)
