  •  downscale voters (9+ / 0-)

adding more downscale voters who lean right on social issues.

The correct translation of this is black churchgoers who hate gays enough to vote Republican.

They have actually had some success with this.

    •  Same with Latinos/Hispanics.... (8+ / 0-)

Because of their traditional conservatism, the GOP thought it was going to scoop them all up, that is, until the Immigration debate heated up, whereupon they saw the GOP's true colors.

Let's hope that holds. The GOP is no more friendly to Latino/Hispanics than they are blacks or "downscale" voters.

The GOP is the party of the rich, for the rich. Why would anyone NOT rich join them as they try to destroy this nation and its middle and lower classes? Hello? Shooting oneself in the foot maybe?

NO MORE DYNASTIES! No more triangulation! No more lies! No more war! No more corporatists! ELECT PROGRESSIVES NOW!

      •  It's the party of the selfish, soulless rich (8+ / 0-)

not just the rich.  We need to hammer on this distinction , because Americans do like to think they might one day be reasonably rich.

Republicans are the party of the selfish, uncaring, soulless rich.  The intelligent, humane, interested-in-fairness rich are invariably Democrats.

        Warren Buffet is a Democrat.

As long as war is regarded as wicked, it will always have its fascination. When it is looked upon as vulgar, it will cease to be popular. - Oscar Wilde
