    That's the one I remember anyway. Never did sound like a very good idea from the way they planned on dumping into the river.

    OTOH, my grandfather was a millwright in the UP copper mines before taking up farming, but that's more like 1900.

      On the surface it looks okay, but the test wells show leechate, right into the Flambeau.

      My husband comes from Minnesota iron miners and worked a college mine job himself . . . I understand the nuances of mining . . . just don't think it's ever a long-run good deal for locals.
