    Having read some of the links (thanks to dannyinla and Bartimaus Blue).

    There are two different things going on here.  The first is a Supreme Court decision that basically just reaffirmed the concept that the sentencing guidelines are only guidelines and ruled that appeals courts should almost always affirm sentences so long as they are reasonable.  The second is a planned meeting of the Sentencing Commission later this week to review and possibly change the guidelines, which may or may not apply retroactively.  Her comment about retroactivity applied to the latter, non-judicial decision.

    I don't see a problem with making any change to the sentencing guidelines retroactive, since they were always just guidelines in the first place.  However, today's Supreme Court decision may reduce the importance of the Sentencing Commission's decision.
