    You've reminded us once again what religious freedom in America truly means.

    It's not Christian freedom.  It's freedom from religion by means of test or requirement. It's not religion in our lives as citizens, it's religion out of our public lives and confined to our private ones.

    The assault on privacy in this country began with the extremist Christianists because they don't believe there's such a right.  For these believers, their theology trumps your privacy; they're dogma rules our government; their Bible thumps our Constitution.  

    The true danger to real freedom in this country is the establishment of religious tests and qualifications, even when they exist only pro forma though not formally.

    They burn our children in their wars and grow rich beyond the dreams of avarice.
