    •  I hope we get good Democrats (7+ / 0-)

and not more Bush dogs.  I think we will get a lot of new progressive Congresspeople.  I just worry that the Democratic party will not learn the right lesson in 2008.  I hope they know that we want them to fight, not to capitulate.

    •  Getting Democrats in power is only the first step (1+ / 0-)

Marginalizing Republicans, while critical, is only the first step in taking back the country.  Corporatist Democrats and lazy Village idiots (bounded by Washington Bubble platitudinous thinking) are the next opponents.

After the Republicans are tossed out of power we will need to build a strong progressive movement to take the reins of the Democratic party and influence the Republicans as they cast about for a new identity.  We won't win the argument in American politics until both parties accept the basic tenets of our beliefs.  One party must be our vehicle, and the other must be beaten into acceptance.

As long as the corporatists control both parties they can't lose.  They are our real opponents, the ones we must defeat.
