  •  Immunity beyond this bill (5+ / 0-)

I truly hope that Dodd sticks with this, and that the new bill isn't voted on until next year.  Let us say that Reid is truly bought by the telecoms, and he must get this bill passed.  He does everything he can, and passes the bill early next year.  What does this mean?

The House Bill does not have immunity.  My understanding would be that the House and Senate bills would go into a conference committee.  If whatever comes out of the conference committee does not match the original bills, a vote has to be held to pass the new combined bill.  If that fails to pass the House, no bill is submitted to the president.  Does the fact that the House passed a bill without immunity give us another shot beyond the Senate path?
