That bill has plenty of GOP backers on top of the Dem caucus.

Want to play hardball? Let it expire. Get the leadership and allies in the press on message and point out how the expiration, due to Bush's veto and his allies in the House, has now kicked a few million children off the healthcare rolls. That's not hard to do, but you've got to be willing to play hardball to do it, sorta like Dubya when he vetos Iraq funding bills and then blames, with the help of his allies in the press, the Democrats for supposedly leaving the troops unarmed and sitting ducks in Iraq. Surely this can't be hard to understand.

Want some more hardball? Get a family from the tent villages which are now popping up around the country, full of folks evicted or foreclosed on or both because of how tough it is out there these days for working families. Find one whose reason for losing their home is due to a gap in medical coverage that the schip expiration would cause for even more people. Half of bankruptcies were due to this, and it's not hard to do the math on foreclosures now that the middle class can no longer discharge their debts via that route (in no small part due to Democratic cooperation, it should be noted). So, link foreclosures, which is sort of a big issue today (that no Democrat is talking about for some reason - maybe because so much DC Dem funding is now coming from Wall Street? Look where Rubin is now...), an issue which can only get bigger, and tie it to health insurance, children and sChip. There, that wasn't so hard, was it?

If only their was some competence somewhere in the ranks of Democrats serving leadership roles in DC. Of course, incompetence is the charitable explanation for how the Democrats are "leading". What are the alternative explanations? Again, look where the money is coming from.

Like I said, you can go ahead and excuse this bullshit. I won't.
