Was in VN when Westmoreland made his report to the National Press Club and for the Tet Offensive which followed about two months afterward.

In November of 1967 Johnson brought General William Westmoreland, commander of American forces in Vietnam, to Washington. Westmoreland addressed the National Press Club saying that the U.S. had reached the point "where the end comes into view".

Wasn't it Walter Cronkite who actually left his comfortable office and went to Viet Nam and reported that from his viewpoint the best we could do was "a draw".
