    •  Exactly (10+ / 0-)

Impeachment is the Constitutional remedy for removing criminals from high office.

Anyone who declares that remedy out of reach is aiding and abetting those criminals.

I still wonder if Pelosi made this "declaration" willingly, but that's for another discussion...

If we can run out of time, then we need the two minute warning, and the chance to throw the red flag for instant replay review in the booth.

The (non-essential partisan witch hunt) Clinton impeachment only took something like three months.

If Congress got off it's collective arse, both Dickie and Georgie could be impeached by August or September next year... eight or nine months from now... and just in time for voters to then pay attention to the November election right after the DNC and RNC when we finally have viable candidates to vote for.  The only people paying attention to candidates now are political junkies.  Most other people are already bored senseless and yawning over the whole much-too-long campaigns.

There IS time to impeach!!!  Congress has wasted a whole year already by dragging their feet since they took their oaths of office in January last year.

        •  They passed legislation during Clinton (5+ / 0-)

          impeachment.

They passed legislation during Nixon's impeachment hearings.

They conducted oversight, held other hearings, etc. during both of those impeachment crises.

I think when the real story is finally told, we will find that impeachment was delayed because Bush and Cheney are so entirely unhinged that the Dem leadership feared they would react to impeachment by launching nuclear weapons at Iran and locking our country down in a police state.

We are nearly past that danger. Nearly.

          •  I know (4+ / 0-)

I'm of a sufficient age that I remember all of that, and yes, lots of things got done even as investigations and impeachment hearings were taking place.  Government did not come to a screeching halt over impeachment hearings.  Impeachment is not a crisis, however.  It is a method to deal with the constitutional crisis we have without impeaching (to paraphrase John Nichols and Bruce Fein from the Bill Moyers Journal show on impeachment).

The reaction we're still getting from Congressional members who should know better, even those who were around during those years, is one big moan about attention being diverted away from their "important issues" which can't be dealt with anyway unless we get rid of Dickie and Georgie and free up money now being spent on war for domestic programs.  News Flash:  We need attention focused on the lies and war crimes of Dickie and Georgie, else they'll get by with their crimes, go unpunished, and be able to wreak havoc in other areas of government!

I think you fear is justified, but if that's what Dickie and Georgie are hanging over the heads of our Congress Critters, we need to know about that blackmailing, too.

We won't be past the danger point until those two and their evil thugs are all gone from our government... preferably locked away where they can't be heard from any longer, nor be able to serve in any governmental offices of any kind.

They are dangerous. They need to be jacked out of bed and thrown in the brig while we impeach and remove them.

I can't believe that we are treating with kid gloves a gang of crooks with the audacity to commit the very crime that the Nazis were sentenced to death for committing.

The Neocons conspired to overthrow the checks and balances of a republican government, adopted a criminal policy of pre-emptive warfare, fabricated pretexts for war, and then invaded, occupied and looted another country.

That is exactly what the Nuremberg prosecutors referred to as "The Nazi Conspiracy." I can't believe that anyone with half an education doesn't know and understand the gravity of the crimes committed by the Bush cabal. And that's without getting to the war crimes and the other whole categories of crimes with hundreds and thousands of instances and the illegal secrecy and obstruction of justice to cover them up.

How can they NOT consider dragging them out and throwing them in the brig?
