    instincts are in the right place. The reality is this. You can never "know" that a person "knows" that a bomb will go off on a place you "know." And therein lies the problem, even if you accept the hypothetical that torture is will give you good intelligence and be worth the cost to the national soul.

    In realty you only can "think" this is the "person" who "may" have the "information" that may lead you to a "possible" attack.  If you knew all the things in the hypothetical, there would be no need to interrogate. You could not have "known" what you say without "knowing" the result. That is where we find ourselves. We torture people because we think they may have information.
