  •  We are witnessing a GOP meltdown . . . (11+ / 0-)

Huckabee may be people powered, but I have a feeling he is about to become desperation powered.  What I'm talking about is the reaction of Pat Buchanan I witnessed on MSNBC last night after Obama's victory speech.

First of all, my gut tells me that any Democrat or Democrat leaning independent in New Hampshire that actually listened to Obama's victory speech in Iowa last night or who sees it replayed later and actually listens to it will end up voting for Obama on Tuesday.  I think that's a given.

I am a libertarian who wouldn't ordinarily consider supporting a statist/socialist politician if you held a gun to my head. After listening to that speech, I was actually moved.  ME, a LIFELONG LIBERTARIAN.  :-(

Also, it wasn't just me who was affected. I was watching Pat Buchanan's reaction on MSNBC.

    Pat Buchanan!!!

Chris Matthews went directly to Buchanan after Obama was done speaking for his immediate reaction. I have never seen Buchanan look like that before. He looked like he had just peered into the future and seen the moment of his own death. What he said was that Huckabee's speech suddenly made him look pretty good as the Republican nominee.  Buchanan liking Huckabee!!!!

Reading between the lines, Buchanan's emotional reaction was, "Oh my God, if the Republicans don't get their act together in about 6 seconds, we can kiss the Presidency goodbye until 2012."

Was anybody else watching Buchanan's reaction?

      Try 2024.

8 yrs of whichever Dem gets the presidency, then 8 more years of whoever their VP is.

I see 16 yrs of Dem control, unless they don't do any of what they're all promising to do, in which case I see a viable 3rd party in a couple of years.

Because the general public in this country is getting more and more pissed off every day.

I couldn't believe my eyes and ears.  Tweety waxing poetic as he described Obama as an emblematic figure representing an America he wanted to live in, and Buchanan turning pale before my very eyes because he knew he was watching the beginning of the end of his party.  And I, with a grin from ear to ear, sipped my celebratory glass of wine with a satisfaction not felt in a long, long time.

I want to live in the future, not in the past.
