but I would also say that from Goldwater to Reagan to Bush, the creepy religious right feel exceedingly underwhelmed. In their view, they have not gotten the full return on their investment. They have not received all that they expected and demanded, and which they were covertly promised in exchange for their votes, including, but not limited to: complete rollback of Roe v. Wade and an outlaw of any abortion, regardless of the health of the mother; criminal prosecutions for women who have abortions and doctors who perform them, requiring maximum life sentences; rollback of any and all LGBT rights in local, state or federal jurisdictions; elimination of the EPA and Dept. of Conservation; passage of the Marriage Amendment to the Constitution, defining marriage as between one man and one woman for all time (except when men might want to fool around on the side); abandonment of any and all stem-cell reserach; immediate removal of sex education in public schools, public condom distribution, and any policy except abstinence only; removal of any remaining division between church and state; making Christianity the state religion; creationism taught in the public schools, banning evolution and science; tax breaks for those who home-school their children; refusal of non-whites to cross any border of the US; the complete quarantine of HIV/AIDS-infected people; abolishment of the income tax, as well as any inheritance or capital gains tax; elimination of the Depts. of Energy and Education; full embrace of nuclear power and a nuclear military; overthrow of Fidel Castro; nuclear attack on Iran; reestablishment of the cold war with the Russians; enhanced laws encouraging the right to bear arms, particularly the right for anyone to carry concealed weapons; and this list goes on and on.

Oh no, they're not yet done.

... that they haven't gotten everything they want yet, and they will grouse and complain and act as if they've been shunned until we live in a full-fledged Theocracy.

But just because they are whiners and extremists doesn't mean they have only gotten crumbs. That was my main point.
