  •  I can't respect someone (4+ / 0-)

who thinks the earth is 6000 years old, that evolution is a lie, and who wants to destroy what's left of the separation between church and state. I don't care how populist the rest of his message is, those 3 things would keep me from voting for him. Plus he'd keep us as the laughing stock that Bush made us. American Fundies look ridiculous to the rest of the world. And they are. Ridiculous that is.

I'm surrounded by these types because we homeschool. I'd want to leave the country of one of them ends up in the White House.

The religious right stole homeschooling. We want it back.

but one point to consider, is that we already DO have one of them in the WH. But without the same recognition of what Jesus actually SAID.

Huckabee really does SEEM to get it and his record in AR seems to bear that out.

Wouldn't be perfect, but I don't think it'd be as bad as we've got now.

I'm not entirely out of touch with the evangelical thing myself, mind you. I've got a sister that's in it over her head. Haven't talked to her or my niece and nephews for quite some time.

But despite all the differences, her heart is in the right place most of the time.
