  •  I'm not sure what the 'unconstitutional inroads' (0+ / 0-)

are. I doubt they rise to the same level as other unconstitutional behavior by this administration. A billion dollars is small potatoes for the US government. They provide more benefit to the GOP than Exxon-Mobile, Haliburton, Blackwater, and the Neo-cons combined and most of what they get is symbolic (like Bush congratulating them on their anti-choice march).

Is roughly twice the budget of our entire national rail system (Amtrak) last time I checked. If we're going to say, "oh, who cares about a lousy billion," then I'd like a 9-figure check for my environmental work, please. Hell, I'll settle for five figures.

As far as those inroads: Haven't you been following the stories of active indoctrination of soldiers on bases into radical Christian theology, or the activity of pastors in the field in places like Iraq? The military is not supposed to be a religious recruitment or prosthelytizing vehicle, but under Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld that has been allowed to happen.

      •  I'll try a different tact (0+ / 0-)

In 1992 Bill Clinton made a point of not stopping the execution of an inmate with diminished capacity, he had a public smackdown of sister soulja, he withdrew his nomination of Lani Guinier. By doing so he was able to work on more substantial issues without being thought of as too lefty. I'm gonna be hugely pissed if we don't get hundreds of billions of dollars in new spending with our new Democratic president.

      •  employment discrimination (0+ / 0-)

the courts have upheld religious organizations right to require religious tests of employees, even when accepting government funding for programs.  This did not happen prior to the fundicrat takeover of the courts.
