  •  Hey desmoinesdem! (9+ / 0-)

I really hope you do a diary on your own experience on Thursday, all the sights and sounds (and photos?) of what it was like for you guys.

I had several friends from Bruin Democrats in Iowa helping out Obama's campaign, including the student body president of UCLA himself.  Obama's really enthralled the college crowd, and I know I'll be hearing it when Winter Quarter starts on Monday to "come over" and see the light.  Heh.

I've seen the light, and it's John and Elizabeth Edwards, thank you very much.  :-)  As long as he is in the race come February 5th in California, he's getting my vote.

(Otherwise I'll then have to go to my second choice of Obama.)

    •  I will do that at some point (8+ / 0-)

I am still processing the experience and thinking about what I want to write. It was surreal having Jerome Armstrong and Ben Smith observing my precinct caucus.

In my precinct, we had more supporters after realignment than any other group did, but the delegates went 2 for Edwards, 2 for Obama and 2 for Clinton.

I got out a calculator yesterday and figured out what we needed to secure that third delegate for Edwards. Either 4 people who realigned with Clinton to join us instead, 8 people who realigned with Obama to join us instead, or 10 people who didn't show up to come to the caucus and stand in our corner.

Thinking about who was with Clinton and Obama, and who didn't show up despite telling me they liked Edwards (and in some cases even signing supporter cards for him), it's easy for me to see how we could have met any of those three conditions. Frustrating.

but I think I'll end up waiting until the fervor dies down, since I think this will all be settled within a couple weeks, especially with those new rasmussen numbers. (Today's NH numbers show 37-27 Obama over Clinton, a 20 point swing since wednesday).

Clinton may be toast, but that doesn't mean things are close to being settled.
