For the same reason that Obama is now leading Clinton in the polls which Clinton lead in for a year.  The polls didn't make her a winner.  When it comes down to a match-up between just the two, Obama and McCain, all these polls will go out the window in a year long Swiftboat campaign.  I hope he can hold up, but I fear the worst.

I guess if Obama takes the Kerry tactic of not responding...sure, that would probably happen.

But what a BS argument that is not to vote for the guy.

No one will face the onslaught that Hillary will and it remains to be seen if going negative against Obama would be effective.

And McCain isn't even a strong candidate.  I really don't know why people see him as the hope of the GOP now.

    •  McCain could attack Hillary (0+ / 0-)

In any way he might attack Obama - in the same way he could attack any Democrat.

Not many have his official forign relations experince which doesn't make a hill of beans to anyone.  if it did Hills claims of an experience edge would evaporate fast and become a liability in the general.

What sets McCain apart is the crucible of his military experience.  He will be able to rack up a lot of points no matter who he runs against with that.

If he wants to run some code campaign against race then he might as easily run one against gender.  There are a lot of ignorant racists  - but there may be even more ignorant sexists.  i realy don't care.  Those people shouldn't decide our nominees.

Conventional wisdom is most usualy an oxymoron.
