  •  And both of those things are in the past now - (0+ / 0-)

She married hope and she's lived change.

The campaign she is running is even using strategies from 1996. That's part of my problem with her - we need a candidate that will move us forward. I don't see that in her.

As to your final question - of course. That's my point. I made my decision to support Obama because I feel he's the most capable. I'm sure someone else feels Hillary is most capable. I have no problem with that difference of opinion. I do have a problem with being called "not feminist enough" or "sexist" because I don't support her as a candidate.

To me, Clinton represents the past and Obama shows the promise of the future.

    I'm a hopemonger.

you're my age (71+) you won't be so quick to commit young and vital people like the Clintons with a lot still to give to what someone once called 'the dustbins of history.'  Your comment that

To me, Clinton represents the past

is meaningless to me.  How does one 'represent' the past?  By living through it and surviving with grace and style?  Some say that in the political realm, 'the past' is how you define 'experience'...lots or a little, good or bad.  Then, when you say

Obama shows the promise of the future.

I think, "Well, duh..."  Of course he does.  To someone like me, that isn't the immediate future...it's the more promising future he will be capable of delivering when he has more of a past...more experience.

I wouldn't be surprised if this discussion on these issues were indicative of the generation gap...to most older people, past is prologue and we ignore history at our peril.

Tell me how you spend your time and how you spend your money -- I'll tell you what your values are.
