    Although McCain's numbers deflated after the public thought he was done as a candidate.  From fall of '06 to summer of '07, when considered the defacto GOP frontrunner, his numbers among Democrats and Independents were far lower; as he (if he) re-emerges in the spotlight tied just as closely to Bush's pro-Iraq war policy as he was back then, I believe the same thing will happen.  Scrutiny is simply toxic to pro-war candidates among Democrats and independent voters, as Giuliani's stint as GOP national frontrunner also showed.

    Do we really want Rudy, Romney, or Huckabee to be able to turn to our nominee in 2008 and say "you voted for this war and I didn't"? Think about it.
